The widely known Nintendo Wii has experienced a good run, but its future's not really looking so good any more as a result of Microsoft's brand new piece of apparatus, Kinect. Nintendo's once revolutionary entertainment product is now looking very old hat.
When the Nintendo wii console arrived it was groundbreaking and took the console gaming world by storm. It delivered video gaming to the masses as a result of its controller which imitates the player's actions and really allowed almost anyone to play computer games. Even very old people who had never played a video game before in their whole lives were all of a sudden able to grab a controller and play tennis games or golf etc.
In many ways it would seem that the Wii console has paved the way for Kinect. The Nintendo wii delivered video games to a considerably wider market and it appears like Kinect will take over that exact market.
Kinect is an add-on to the Xbox 360 which rests on top of your TV just like the Wii sensing unit that also is placed on top of the Television. The difference is the fact that Kinect actually scans your body movement which means that you do not even have to have a controller in your hands.
The Wii appealed to so many as a result of its simple controls, but the Kinect doesn't have any controls at all therefore the attractiveness will be even more significant! It also offers voice recognition which means that you can issue instructions simply with your speech. Couple that with the fact that it makes use of the Xbox 360 hardware which is capable of generating Hi-def graphics that's light years beyond what the Nintendo wii console is capable of!
For the foreseeable future, it looks as though Kinect is going to take over from the Nintendo. It will be interesting to find out what Sony and also Nintendo will come up with next!
For some sneak previews of Kinect games visit Google and just type 'Kinect games' and see exactly what everybody will be actively playing for the next few years!
